Most air conditioner failures are electrical: capacitors, contactors and fan motors that give out under the first long heat wave. Others come from airflow problems, a plugged drain or low refrigerant from a leak. We diagnose the cause, quote a fixed price and carry the common parts.

Signs your AC needs repair

  • Running but blowing warm air
  • Ice on the refrigerant lines or indoor coil
  • Water around the furnace or on the ceiling below
  • Outdoor unit hums but the fan does not spin
  • Trips the breaker
  • Short cycles on and off
  • House feels clammy even when it is cool
  • Electric bill spiked

What happens on a repair visit

  • Technician arrives inside the window we gave you
  • Electrical, airflow and refrigerant diagnostics
  • A fixed price in writing before any work
  • Most repairs completed on the first visit
  • System tested for proper temperature drop before we leave
  • One-year Fixed Right Guarantee on the repair

Check these first

  • Thermostat set to Cool and below room temperature
  • Filter. A plugged filter is the top cause of frozen coils
  • Breakers for both the furnace and the outdoor unit
  • Outdoor unit clear of cottonwood fluff, grass clippings and leaves
  • If there is ice, turn cooling off and the fan to On for a few hours to thaw it before we arrive

A word about refrigerant

An air conditioner does not use up refrigerant. If it is low, it is leaking, and adding more without finding the leak is money you will spend again next summer. Systems built before 2010 often use R-22, which is no longer produced and is expensive. Equipment made from 2025 on uses newer refrigerants such as R-454B. We will tell you which you have and what makes financial sense.

What affects AC repair cost

  • The failed part. Capacitors and contactors are small repairs. Compressors and coils are major
  • Refrigerant type and how much is needed
  • Whether the part is under manufacturer warranty
  • Age. On a system over 12 to 15 years old, a major repair is often better put toward replacement

Questions

AC Repair FAQ

Why is my AC running but not cooling?

The usual suspects are a dirty filter or coil, a failed capacitor, a frozen indoor coil or low refrigerant from a leak.

How much does AC repair cost?

The diagnostic is $89 and is waived when we do the repair. You get the exact price before work starts.

Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?

If it is under 10 years old, repair usually wins. Past 12 to 15 years, or if it uses R-22 and has a leak, replacement is usually the better use of the money.

Do you work on heat pumps and mini-splits?

Yes, both ducted heat pumps and ductless systems.
